Dear customers of TheCheapPlace.com. I can proudly announce that we have just upgraded our servers to give you a faster browsing experience. We are a growing store and every now and than as the traffic levels reach a certain level and browsing begins to slow does we must upgrade our systems to provide you guys a fast and positive browsing experience.

Obviously this comes with a few glitches as the DNS propagates. This is how the internet works, you have a domain name, call it thecheaplace.com. There are many domain name servers in the web that your browser first visits. To explain it simply, when you type in thecheapplace.com in your browser, your browser goes to a domain name server and sees which IP address to direct you too. While the switchover is happening at times you maybe directed to the old server which is absolutely normal given how the internet works. It takes about 48 hours for all domain name servers to be updated with our new servers IP address.

We do apologize if you have seen a few glitches occur between 11th of October and 13th of October. But rest assured you will have a faster browsing experience from now on. Yes the time will come when we need to upgrade it once again as our traffic grows almost exponentially. Which is a good indicator that we must be doing something right.

Ride Safe

Attended one of the most emotional services yesterday for Sgt. Christopher Soderlund. KIA 9 July 2011. Sgt. Soderlund leaves behind a wife and two beautiful children as well as many members of the military who had great respect for this young man as was evident by the show of respect for him. May you Rest in Peace my Brother in Arms your mission now complete and may God bless your family and give them Peace and Comfort. It was an Honor and a Privilege to stand for this Great American Hero !!!!! We salute you Sgt. Soderlund and all who have given the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who continue to serve our country. To Kenny and Carlton, you guys did a wonderful job with this mission. It was a pleasure to ride with you. We also had the honor and privilege of visiting with two soldiers who served along side of Sgt. Soderlund in combat as well as serving as pallbearers for him while having lunch. I have never heard such high praise and respect for a young man as they had for Sgt. Soderlund and they shared that same respect for the members of the PGR. One of these soldiers had seen the PGR a couple of times and for the other it was the first time. He told us ” It left a lump in my throat to see such a large mass of people show up and respect my friend; and you guys don’t even know him, YOU JUST DO IT BECAUSE HE WAS A SOLDIER.” This statement by a soldier who himself has been back stateside since January after his vehicle was struck by an I.E.D. and he suffered many injuries left me with few words. I will say this though and not with ANY disrepect to any PGR member. Just remember…if you ever think it is “too hot to ride and stand”, or ” I might get wet” or “The ride is to far”…JUST DO IT BECAUSE HE/SHE WAS A SOLDIER !!!!!

I found this great post on my friend George’s facebook and thought I should post it here as well. It is a little long but you are going to love it.

I got a patch for this liberal conservative affair as well, but first read this

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many
others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other
liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more
government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and
the need for more government programs.

The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated
so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to
maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying,
which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even
have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all
her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?” She
replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes,
she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on
campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the
parties and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s
too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office
and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only
has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would
be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, “That’s a
crazy idea, how would that be fair! I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested
a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played
while I worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the conservative side of the fence.”

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.. If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns
outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for
everyone.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take
care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut
down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion
silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands
that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh. A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended.”

I’ve just got an email from a friend of mine about this newly renovated site called www.OnlineBikerShop.com. Looks neat, at the moment all they have is riding glasses by EyeQUSA. I got a bit jealous of this new feature they have, I wish I was able to have you upload a photo of your jacket and place patches on them to show you the final outcome. My Dearest Customers, as we were moving on to the New Year I had decided to charge a nominal shipping fee for all orders. After doing hours of math and analyzing past years sales I had come up with a detailed shipping charge schedule. It was all set to go in effect on January 1st 2011. But then a review caught my eye. One of my repeat customers had written a public review about how nice it was to buy patches and not pay anything for shipping.

This single review alone was enough to convince me to scrap out shipping charges. So I have decided, FREE Shipping will continue at The Cheap Place with a tiny small catch. All I ask is you spend at least $10. Ever since the beginning while most websites impose a $10 minimum, we never imposed minimums to our customers. I still do not want to impose a $10 minimum for all purchases, however, as the credit card and paypal commissions do play  a significant percentage in our cost for small orders I’ve decided to charge $1.99 shipping fee for all orders under $10.

I hope you all find this new shipping policy fair. Spend at least $10 and get free shipping on all your orders shipped within the United States (This includes Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. When entering your shipping address for Puerto Rico, select United States as the country and enter Puerto Rico as the State to avoid international shipping charges).
