Sturgis Legends Ride 2014 Slated for August 4

sturgis legends rideIf you are planning to attend the Sturgis bike rally this year, make sure you're in town to participate in the annual Sturgis Legends Ride. The ride is one of the most well known events in the biker community, having taken place annually since 2008. It is an opportunity to see some beautiful countryside while raising funds for very worthy charities. This year's ride is slated for Monday, August 4.

Participants will enjoy a beautiful, escorted tour through the legendary Black Hills of South Dakota. The tour will end at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip campground where riders will be invited to enjoy a special reception featuring free food and beverages along with a memorabilia auction and live music.

All of the money raised from the event will go to a number of charities, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall Of Fame and the Black Hills Special Olympics. Since 2008, the ride has raised more than $325,000. The generosity of both riders and the event organizers has made the Sturgis Legends Ride a noteworthy event. It has been profiled by National Geographic, the Tonight Show, the Travel Channel and a number of other electronic and print media outlets.

If you go, plan to have a great time with a large group of bikers who share a passion for the open road and the Black Hills of South Dakota. There is nothing quite as the Legends Ride anywhere else in the biker community. And of course, the Sturgis rally is one of the more well attended rallies in the country.

Doing It Right

We think most bikers would agree that the organizers of the Sturgis Legends Ride are doing things right. By doing what they do, they are enabling bikers from across the country to present the biker lifestyle in a very positive light. Unfortunately, the coverage normally given to the biker community is negative or highly sensational. Nevertheless, events like this show that bikers are normal people who enjoy good company, the great outdoors, and helping those in need.

It should be noted that the Sturgis Legends Ride is notable primarily because of its size. But other charity rides just like it are held throughout the country at all times of the year. Come December for example, local biker clubs will be participating in their annual Christmas rides to provide donations of cash, food and toys to families in need. There are also charity rides that benefit veterans organizations, child services organizations, research into specific diseases, fallen rider funds, etc. These are the types of events that really deserve the attention of the media.

We hope you are planning to attend this year's Sturgis rally and the Legends Ride on August 4. If not, there are a number of other rallies and charity rides you can participate in. Whenever you do, get out there and enjoy everything the biker lifestyle has to offer. After all, there's no point in owning a motorcycle if you don't get out there on the open road.
