Be Proud of Being Irish

Are you Irish?  If you are, be proud of it!  The Irish have many different traditions.  However, some of these traditions have actually been changed over the years.  For example, the idea of the 'wearing of the green' on St. Patrick's Day didn't originally mean to wear green clothing.  Actually, the Irish believe wearing green is bad luck!  Instead, they wore blue on St. Patrick's Day but added a green shamrock to their lapels.  Of course, these shamrocks don't last for very long.  That's why many got something a bit more permanent, like the 3 Leaf Clover Shamrock Patch from the cheap place.com.

According to the story, St. Patrick used the shamrock as a way of teaching his flock about the holy trinity.  The three leaves of the shamrock were like the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: each was simply a different part of the same entity.  The members of his church later started wearing the shamrock on his feast day as a way of honoring him.  They generally only wore the three-leaf clover, the 'lucky' four-leaf clover doesn't have any connection to St. Patrick (plus it would be very difficult to find that many four-leaf clovers!).  Three-leaf clovers may not be considered lucky, but to the Irish, they're pretty special.

Let your pride in being Irish shine by wearing a three-leaf clover patch every day.  There's noting that says you have to hold off and wear it only in the spring.
