Hells Angels Donate Food to Charities

Last weekend the town of Leckwith, in Wales, played host to more than 400 Hells Angels from across the UK and Ireland gathering for their annual convention. The weekend was met with several surprises, not the least of which is the fact that local police report not a single incident requiring their attention occurred. The second surprise of the weekend came on Sunday when the Angels realized they had a lot of food left over.

They loaded that food into a van and drove to a nearby homeless shelter which feeds between 60 and 100 people every day. The shelter was glad to receive the rolls, bacon, ribs, sausages, coleslaw, and desserts. There was so much food donated the shelter was able to share it with two other local shelters that were then able to feed their patrons as well. In a newspaper interview one of the Angels was quoted as saying, 'Generally, we don't really care what people think and that's why we don't really make a big fuss about the charity stuff that we do. In this case it would be a crime to waste all that stuff and we decided to give it to people who were in need'.

If you've never seen a custom club patch bearing the Hells Angels logo, it features a skull with a motorcycle helmet and a very large set of wings. It's by no means the scariest biker patch in the world, but it's not what you'd expect from a charitable group. That might be one of the reasons why people have negative perceptions of motorcycle clubs. Regardless, the UK convention was a huge success and several local charities in Leckwith benefit from the Angel's generosity.
