Are you a patch collector? If so, you might have a huge collection, only some of which you've added to your jackets, vests, and other clothing. Maybe you keep the others in a drawer somewhere for use later, or maybe you have framed them and display them on your wall. Some patches can be found just about anywhere, and you can buy them from just about any place that sells patches. On the other hand, there are some rare patches that aren't as easy to find. You may not ever want to use these patches on your jacket since they're worth more unused.
Why are some patches rare? There are a number of reasons. Some are created by companies to be given out at product launches. These patches are made in a very limited quantity, and they're usually not sold, only handed out at these events. They're usually associated with a particular brand like Harley Davidson, so people who love that company will especially want these patches. Others are created for a certain rally. Each year, a special patch that rally is created, and once the rally is over, those patches aren't sold again.
Other patches have been discontinued. Sometimes, the company that made them went out of business, or sometimes they decided the patch wasn't selling as well as they wanted it to. Sometimes, these patches were replaced by new versions. Finding them can be difficult. Sometimes, you can find patch resellers at rallies or online that have a few copies left. Other times, you can find them on online auction sites. If a patch is really rare and sought after, though, be ready to pay for it. Some rare patches can go for a lot more than you might expect.
