Putting Patches on Your Headgear

When most people think of putting patches on their riding gear, they think of putting it on their jacket.  However, there are other options.  You can put patches on your belts, bags, pants, vests, and even your hats and helmets.  While some patches obviously won't fit on your headgear, there are many that will, and some that were specifically created to fit on the brim of a baseball cap.  If you haven't put a patch on your headgear and have a few extra patches sitting around, why not put them on your hat?

While some patches were specifically designed for baseball caps, there are many small patches that will fit on helmet covers.  These covers are made from stretchy material that pulls tight over your helmet.  They're designed to cover a helmet that has been scratched and dented or to add some color and personalization to your helmet.  These covers can easily be decorated with patches since you can both sew and iron patches onto them.  In some ways, they're easier to decorate than hats because they're not as ridged.  Therefore, it's easier to iron patches on to them.

There are many patches you could put on your cap.  You don't have to stick to just those designed for headgear.  You can affix small, round patches to your headgear or even some of the sayings patches.  Just look for ones that are relatively short and aren't too long.  Four inches in length is about the maximum size.  You can put different patches on each hat and wear the one that fits your mood the best or you can wear one hat or helmet cover until it wears out.
