Special and Rare Patches

You've heard a lot about bikers adding different patches to their jackets and vests, but have you ever wondered why they do it?  Is there some secret reason behind these patches, some hidden meaning?  No, not really.  Most motorcycle riders just like to show off their personality by customizing their clothing and biker gear.  However, there are some special patches that do have meaning beyond how they look and what they say.  These motorcycle patches aren't always available, either, so they're limited to either a small production run or to specific bikers.

These limited patches include patches done for specific models of bikes when they first roll out.  They help promote these new models, and they're often only available at special introduction events.  Others are made for biker rallies.  For example, if you went to the Sturgis rally this year, you probably saw some Sturgis 2012 patches.  These patches won't be made again, and once they're sold out, they're gone.

Then there are the special patches given only to specific bikers.  These patches are made by biker clubs or organizations and are only given out to members.  Some clubs even make special patches for their events, and these limited patches are only given to members who participate in them.  These rare patches can't be found anywhere else, and for bikers who collect them, they're one of the top prizes.

There are some other rare patches, too.  Since people can buy blank patches and embroider their own designs on them, it's possible to make your own specialized patches.  You can also sometimes order a limited run of patches from a company.  Some people give these custom patches out as gifts or prizes at club events.  Either way, they're very rare, and you won't find them in stores.
