The Different Types of Patches

If you're new to buying embroidered motorcycle patches, you may not realize how many different types there are.  There are a variety of different types of patches, each with its own specific use.  Not all patches can be put on a hat, for example, nor do all of them fit on the front of a jacket or vest.  Before you plan out how you want to decorate your biker jacket, you should take a look at your different options so you can coordinate them.

For the back of your vest or jacket, there are large back patches.  These patches usually take up most of the room on your jacket, with some measuring twelve inches wide and high.  They're usually the first thing people see since they're so large.  You might want to pick out your back patch first since there are a larger number of smaller patches than there are large ones.  Use the large patch as the center of your theme.

Then there are rocker patches.  These patches are arched so they fit nicely on the shoulder of your jacket.  Many of them feature the names of states or a branch of the military service.  While they're designed to fit on your shoulder, you can also put them on the front of your jacket or vest.  There are also large rocker patches designed to go across the top or bottom of the back of your jacket or vest.

Finally, there are the smaller iron on patches that you can fit just about anywhere.  These patches fit easily on the front of your jacket or vest, although you can also put them around the large back patch, too.  These small patches can also fit on your baseball caps, wallets, canvas belts, and other items, so they make great space fillers.
