If you're a biker, you probably love going fast. Speeding down the highway, the wind in your hair, feels amazing. While you should always ride safely, there are some places and times when it's okay to open up and see just how fast your bike can go. While you might get up into the triple digits if you really push it, there are some bikes that can do much more. Here are a few of the fastest motorcycles in the world.
The Dodge Tomahawk holds the title as the fastest bike, but don't expect to find one at your local dealer. Only a very few of them were made, and they're pretty expensive. The Tomahawk can hit 350 mph, though, thanks to its 500 horsepower engine.
How incredibly fast is the Tomahawk? Well, just compare it to the second-fastest motorcycle, the Suzuki Hayabusa. This four cylinder, 16 value engine can only hit 248 mph. It has a 197 horsepower engine, and its rpm is actually higher than the Tomahawk's (6750 rpm verses the Tomahawk's 5600 rpm).
Coming in a close third is the MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K. It tops out around 227 mph. This superbike produces 320 horsepower and has a 5200 rpm engine. It uses a two speed automatic transmission, which is a little different from most other bikes.
Finally, there's the Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird. The fourth fastest bike in the world has a top speed of 190 mph. The top Honda bike uses a four cylinder engine that can produce 153 horsepower. It has a six-speed transmission and looks very slick. This fast bike is actually quite affordable, especially used.
