If you're a firefighter or a police officer, you might want to use a few patches related to your job. There are a lot of different options for firefighters and police officers, and there are also patches for sheriffs, deputies, and others who work in these protective positions. While you can find many of these patches at rallies and online, note that it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to find patches that perfectly replicate the patches worn by those working in these fields. This is because wearing patches that are identical to those worn by active officers is frowned upon (and in some cases is considered illegal).
Why is it not a good idea to wear perfect replicas? Because if you put together a uniform that very closely resembles a police officer's, you can be accused of impersonating an officer. This is especially true if you try to coerce someone into doing something by pretending you're an officer. However, there's nothing wrong with wearing patches that don't look like active-duty patches. There's also nothing wrong with wearing patches featuring fake police precincts or from fake locations.
You don't have to do a whole jacket in these patches if you don't want to. If you're a firefighter but also have other interests you want represented on your jacket, you can use a few small firefighter patches and then finish your jacket with others. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that most firefighter jackets have a lot of red on them. This means they might stand out if most of your other patches are blue or black. Just keep that in mind when trying to decide where you want your patches to go.
