What Can You do with Old Patches

Do you have a lot of old patches that you've removed from jackets and other riding gear?  Maybe you've got some patches you had always intended to put on items but just never got around to it, and now you don't have any room on your gear.  What do you do with all of these old patches?  You can throw them away, of course, but that seems like a big waste.  After all, some of these patches have been with you for years, and you had them on your jacket during many of your favorite rides.

If you had sewn the patches on to your gear, you can carefully snip the threads and reuse them.  This way, you can move them to a new jacket, put them on something else, or even give them to someone to use.  The patch isn't damaged at all, and it will look great when put on another item.  Since you didn't use the iron-on adhesive the first time around, you could use it the second time you use the patch.

Another option is to frame the patches and use them for decoration.  All it takes is a frame, some felt or other material for backing (it helps hold the patch in place after the frame is hung), and you've got some interesting decorations.

You can also give your old patches to your children.  They may love having these items as mementos of your bike and the trips you took.  If you have some old patches lying around, don't just leave them in a box collecting dust.  Reuse them, trade them to others, or create some decorations that reflect your personal taste.
