A Patch For Those Who Participated in the Gulf War

marines gulf war patchWhere you one of the U.S. Marines who participated in the Gulf War?  Many soldiers took part in this conflict, and while many returned home, there were some who did not.  Others suffered injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Everyone who fought in the Gulf War deserves recognition.  The Cheap Place has a Gulf War Veteran Marines Patch for those who served in this conflict.  It's one of the Military Patches, and it looks very nice on the front of your vest or the sleeve of your jacket.

The Gulf War officially began in August of 1990 and ended in February of 1991.  The final leg of the war was called Operation Desert Storm, the code name for the UN coalition force's battle against the Iraqi army.  The force, made up of representatives of 34 nations, fought to free the small nation of Kuwait.  Iraq had invaded Kuwait and forcibly annexed it, which resulted in the condemnation and, later, armed response from the United Nations.

Within a few hours of this invasion, the UN Security Council passed a resolution demanding Iraq withdraw its forces.  This was followed by a resolution by the Arab League calling for a solution to the conflict.  However, Iraq refused.  The UN then voted for economic sanctions and a naval blockade to enforce these sanctions.  Despite this and more attempts at a diplomatic resolution,  there was no peaceful solution.  Operation Desert Shield was put into place to protect Saudi Arabia after Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein made verbal threats towards the country.  In January of 1991, the UN forces officially began to enter Kuwait and forcibly remove the Iraqi army.

Need one of these?  It's one of the currently in stock patches on The Cheap Place.
