An Off Duty Patch for Sheriffs

Sheriff Shield PatchIf you work in law enforcement, you know you can't add real patches to your off duty clothing.  However, you can add patches that are similar in shape and size to let people know that you're in law enforcement.  They're so similar that they might be mistaken for the real thing from afar, but up close, it's obvious they aren't.  One nice example of this type of patch is the Sheriff Shield Patch that sheriffs can add to their riding jackets.  You'll find this sheriff shield and other patches related to law enforcement in the Police Patches category on The Cheap Place.

This patch differs from real sheriff's patches in several ways.  The coloring isn't quite the same (this one has a green background, while most sheriff patches have a tan background).  It's also a little bit wider, and it doesn't feature the name of any county or department.  However, it does include the sheriff's star and the decorative lines that you'll find on most official patches.  The reason the patch isn't identical is that criminals have been known to wear fake uniforms when breaking into someone's home or when trying to kidnap someone.

Even if you're not a sheriff, you may be interested in this patch if you plan on dressing up as a famous television sheriff for Halloween or a costume party.  It might be the last thing you need to complete your outfit.  No matter what you need it for, this patch looks great.  It's embroidered in yellow with black outlines and shading on a green background.

The patch measures three by three inches and can be either ironed on using the heat-activated plastic backing or sewn on to leather items.
