The AK 47 is a selective-fire gas-operated rifle that was actually developed in the USSR. While it is commonly called the AK 47 internationally, in Russia, it's called the Avtomat Kalashnikova. This, obviously, was shorted to AK. It was originally designed in 1945 and went through military trials in 1946. The rifle entered active service in 1947 and has been used since. It's one of the oldest assault rifle models to still be in use today. The rifle is popular because it's easy to use, has a low production cost, and is very durable.
This patch is actually longer than many small patches, measuring six inches long and two inches wide. It features mostly brown and gray embroidered, although there is some black detailing as well. The patch can be sewn on to most leather items using black thread (it features a die cut black border). If you're going to put it on other clothing, the best way is to iron it on using the heat-activated plastic backing. While you don't have to use this patch along with the left-facing one, the two were designed with the idea of pairing them up.
