This rectangular patch measures four inches by two inches. It is solid black and is made from twill. It has a black border around it that gives you something to hold on to while embroidering it. This border also makes it easier to sew it onto your clothing. Because the patch has to be embroidered first, it does not feature the plastic iron-on backing that most patches do. You can, however, add a layer of plastic backing after you've embroidered your letters or image to give the patch a nice, stiff backing.
