Don't Tread on This Large Back Patch

Dont Tread On Me PatchThere are a number of really awesome large back patches on The Cheap Place.  There are also several different patches featuring the Gadsden flag.  This flag, which was used by the Continental Maries during the American Revolutionary War, features a coiled rattlesnake and the words 'Don't Tread On Me' below it.  If you love this image and want to add it to your jacket, you could add the Large Don't Tread On Me Patch.  It's located in the Wild Animals Patches category.  It's a giant back patch for jackets or vests.

Designed by General Christopher Gadsden, this flag features the timber rattlesnake, a snake that appears in the thirteen original colonies.  Benjamin Franklin used this snake as a way of showing that the colonies had to join up or they would die.  Franklin also made the suggestion that the U.S. send rattlesnakes to England because England was sending convicted criminals to the colonies.  Later, Paul Revere used a drawing of a snake in the title of his newspaper.

The flag is considered one of the first flags of the U.S., although the red, white, and blue flag was later made the official flag.  However, the Gadsden flag has been used by other organizations and groups throughout the years.  A modified version with a stretch out snake and the tagline on a background of red and white stripes became the first navy jack, which is always flown on the oldest ship in service.  Most recently, it has been used by the Tea Party.

This large patch measures ten by ten.  The snake's distinct black diamond pattern on yellow looks great and stands out on any dark colored jacket or vest.  If you're a Tea Party supporter, you should get this great patch.
