It's been a while since I've written anything about the Ladies Patches category at The Cheap Place. But after seeing the Pink Ribbon Black Border patch I decided it was time. Usually we discuss this category in terms of some of the funny and unique characteristics of female bikers, or even the suggestive nature of many of the ladies patches. But this blog post is a much more serious one. If you don't know, the pink ribbon is the symbol of breast cancer awareness.
Breast cancer is a serious issue which deserves our attention and research efforts. All over the nation there are annual event's designed to raise awareness of this disease as well as vital research dollars. There are walk-a-thons, 10K road races, charity softball games, and yes, even bike rallies. All of these worthwhile events are helping the cause of finding a cure to breast cancer. And lest you think breast cancer only strikes women, no so. It can strike men as well.
If you're a lady biker, a guy who supports the cause, a breast cancer patient, or the friend or relative of one, this pink ribbon patch deserves a place on the breast of your leather vest or jacket. Don't worry about what others may think of you; finding a cure is far more important. Think of it this way, every time someone does mock your patch there's an opportunity to educate another person about this deadly disease.
