Best Motorcycle Apps

If you are familiar with mobile devices and modern technology in general, you know that apps have taken on a major role in the lives of anyone who uses this technology. Though a lot of people see apps as being just for fun, there are actually many apps that are useful in a variety of ways. There are even motorcycle apps that are useful in a variety of ways to those who own these vehicles. The following are a few of these apps.

1. Waze

Though a big part of riding a motorcycle is enjoying the ride, there are practical purposes as well. You want to be able to get where you go as quickly as you can. If you want an app that can help you find the path to your destination that will take the least time, Waze is the app for you. It is more than a simple GPS app, calculating the quickest path rather than just the shortest by gathering information on the speed of other Waze users at your destination and in the area. It will give you constant directions using your smartphone as well as a Bluetooth Communicator in your helmet. It is constantly seeking out the optimal route, so it can even change your course midway through. In addition, you can program this app to find the cheapest or closest gas station and communicate with other motorcyclists. You can even use this app when you are in a car if you want. It is free and available for iOS, Android, and Windows.

2. Skymotion

While sometimes you have to ride in the rain, people generally like to avoid it. This app will give you up to the minute weather forecasts that are based on both your GPS location and  ground-level observations that have been submitted by other users. It lets you know whether the ride is worth the risk based on the weather. If you happen to already be in the middle of a motorcycle ride, the app can give you the information to decide whether it is best to keep going with waterproof gear or to find shelter somewhere. This free app is available for Android, Windows, and iOS.

3. Yelp

You are likely already familiar with the Yelp app. Many people know that it can be used for all sorts of things, but it is also very useful specifically for those who own and drive motorcycles. You may go on long journeys from time to time, and this app can help you find certain things that you may need it during those journeys, such as a cheap place to eat or a repair shop if you need to get something fixed on the road. You should make sure to read all the reviews rather than just the favorable ones, but this app, which is free and available on Windows, Android, and iOS, is a great resource for motorcyclists.

4. EatSleepRide

This app serves a variety of purposes. You can use it to discover various routes and track your ride and share it with your friends as well. It also tracks elevation, lean angle, and speed for your ride. You can also use EatSleepRide to set up private ride groups where members can use a map to chart one another's progress. You can use it to  connect with other people and see other users in the area. For an extra $6.99, you can also used the Crashlight option, which provides you with safety and peace of mind on your motorcycle. The app will auto detect a motorcycle crash and give the rider three minutes to deactivate your phone alarm. If you are not able to do so, an emergency notice containing your GPS coordinates  will be sent to pre-selected contacts in your app, so that they can send help right away. This app can be purchased for $2.99 and is currently available for iOS, with an Android version in development.

These are just a few of the apps that can be useful to motorcycle riders. They are great for anyone who could benefit from their purposes and can help make your ride more enjoyable, convenient, and safe.
