That said, while I do agree helmet laws suck I don't think that helmets themselves suck. I used to own a Honda 550cc many years ago and had an accident that probably would've killed me had I not been wearing a helmet. It was a rainy day and I was riding home from work on the expressway, following an 18-wheeler. To make a long story short, events transpired which caused me to dump my bike and slide right underneath the trailer. Although my helmet sustained a crack that rendered unusable, it protected me from what could've been a fatal head injury.
The Helmet Laws patch is a great way to show your feelings about mandatory helmet usage. Sew it on your leather jacket or vest, but please use common sense when it comes to wearing a helmet. Even in states where helmets are not required, there are times when it's just the smart thing to do.
