  • The ideal temperature is 280°F (plus or minus 10°F is acceptable)

  • Make sure your garment can withstand this level of heat

  • Too much heat can melt the plastic backing, too little heat will not activate the glue properly

  • Do not use this method on leather, nylon, or any heat-sensitive material

  • All iron-on patches come with a plastic backing with heat-activated adhesive

  • Do not remove the plastic backing, even if you plan to sew the patch

Incorrect temperature is the #1 reason patches don’t stick properly.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps to iron on an embroidered patch safely.

Step 1: Set the Right Temperature

Set your iron to 280°F (or highest setting close to it) with no steam.
Let the iron fully heat up.

Step 2: Prepare the Garment

Place your garment on a flat, firm surface.
Smooth out wrinkles to ensure even heat application.

Step 3: Position the Patch

Place the patch in your desired position.
Make sure it is straight and aligned properly.

Step 4: Apply Heat

Press the iron firmly onto the patch for 30 seconds.
Do not move the iron - apply steady, even pressure.

Step 5: Let It Cool

Allow the patch to cool completely.
This helps the adhesive bond securely to the fabric.

Step 6: Check and Reapply if Needed

Gently check the edges.
If any part lifts, press again for 10–15 seconds.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • Turn the garment inside out and press again from the back

  • Wait at least 24 hours before washing

  • For maximum durability, sew the edges after ironing
