One thing that immediately identifies you as a motorcycle enthusiast and rider is your jacket. Unlike some groups, most bikers decorate their jackets and clothing with different patches. These patches can be anything from brand logos to humorous sayings to images to political statements. Patches come in all shapes and sizes, and there are even some blank patches you can purchase and embroider yourself to create your own unique patch. Some people enjoy patch collecting so much that they even purchase wholesale biker patches to sell to others. When it comes to adding these patches to your clothing, there are two different options.
The first and easiest option is for any clothing that is not made out of leather. This is the iron-on method. Most embroidered patches (except for blank patches) come with a plastic backing that melts when heated. To add these patches to your clothing or other item, just place the patch where you want it and run a hot iron over it. The plastic melts, permanently attaching the patch to the clothing.
The second option is for leather products. Because leather does not react well to heat, patches shouldn't be ironed on. Instead, most patches have die cut borders done in a solid color (usually black). All you have to do is take some thread and sew the patch on. The border means you just need one color thread and don't have to worry about the thread clashing with the colors on the patch. Another benefit is that it is possible to remove the patch later if you carefully cut the thread, meaning you can reuse your patches.
Either way, no biker wants to be without patches on their jacket, pants, or other cloth items (hat, bag, etc.). If you're just starting out, purchasing wholesale patches is a nice way of decorating multiple items at once.
