Basics of Motorcycle Tires

When tires go out on a car, usually you take them down to your local tire store and have them replaced. However, this isn't always the case with motorcycle tires.  The reason for this is that some stores don't carry tires for bikes, and other stores may only sell retreaded tires.  You need to watch out and be careful that you are picking out the tires which will work best for you and your bike.  After all, the types of tires you choose to put on your motorcycle are going to directly affect the performance of your vehicle.  You need to make sure that you use high quality tires that are designed for your bike and the terrain you usually ride on.

Over the past few years, as trends in motorcycles have changed and the number of bikers has increased, there have been quite a few changes made to the tires.   Everything from the design and construction to the different synthetic materials that are used has been altered to fit any kind of bike.  For example, motorcyclists who are racing or stunt driving are going to be looking for a different set of wheels that can handle the specific stresses of their performances, while leisure bikers are going to want a tire that can handle hours of driving on the open road.

If you ride a racing bike, you will want to make sure that you have a front tire with a taller arch.  This will help your bike respond faster, and you will be better able to turn into the corners.  On the other hand, if you have a larger cruising motorcycle, you'll want to look for tires that will have been designed for larger weight capacities to handle your load.  These usually have alternating rubber and composite mesh designs.
