Being a Passenger Can be Fun, Too

Many people think the only way to enjoy riding a motorcycle is to drive one.  The feeling of all that power at your command, the thrill of pushing yourself and your bike into the wind, and the sheer fun of speeding down the road is amazing.  But being a passenger on a motorcycle can actually also be a lot of fun.  No, you're not the one in control, but in some ways, that can help make the experience even better because you don't have to worry so much about keeping an eye on the road.

When driving, you don't really have any time to look around at the scenery.  Your attention needs to be focused on the road ahead of you and the other vehicles on it.  However, as a passenger, you're free to gawk as much as you'd like.  You can check out the amazing scenery around you, look at the other bikes you pass, or even let your mind wander and daydream a bit.

Riding as a passenger on a bike isn't quite as hands-off as being a passenger in a car, though.  You do have to lean into the curves a little bit and keep your balance.  It's not totally passive.  The experience in riding behind the driver and riding in a side car is different, riding in a side car isn't quite as an active experience as riding on the back of a bike.

As a passenger, you will also need full riding gear and a helmet.  This means that even though you're not driving, you can still get a set of proper riding leathers and decorate your jacket with all those awesome motorcycle patches.  Of course, you have to be aware that if there's an accident, you may also get hurt.
