What does motorcycle riding have to do with religion? Well, at first glance, not a whole lot. But there are actually several ways in which biking and religion go hand in hand. If you think about it, there are specific religious groups in many areas. For example, there's the FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a group of athletes who are also Christians and incorporate prayers into their meetings. While obviously there's nothing to say that a motorcycle club must be religious or non-religious, there are some groups that choose to be associated with a particular belief or even a local church.
What do these religious groups do? Usually, nothing that's very different from a non-religious club. They start and close their meetings with prayer, and sometimes they pray before a ride. That's really about it. Some of the members like to wear motorcycle patches featuring crosses or passages from the Bible. They might also add some decals or have religious symbols painted on their motorcycles or helmets. Some bikers even like to fly a flag behind their bike that relates to their religion.
If you're not of the same religion, you may be able to still join one of these clubs. Just be aware that they will incorporate some of their beliefs into the club's meetings and activities, so be prepared to participate. You shouldn't be forced to join in, but you will be expected to respect the club's beliefs.
Are there benefits to being in a religious biker group? You know your club will be united in at least one area, so there shouldn't be any disagreements over religion. The club may have more structure in that many have religious gatherings and activities incorporated into their meetings. But other than that, there's very little difference.
