Biking and Three-Day Weekends

One of the biggest joys for bikers is the weekend, when they can hit the road and forget all about the stress of the work week.  Of course, when it comes to a three-day weekend, it's even more amazing.  There are a number of these three-day weekends scattered throughout the year.  One of the ones coming up soon is Veteran's Day.  Whenever the actual day, November 11, falls on a Sunday like it does this year, the following Monday will be a federal holiday and many people will have off work.

A three-day weekend gives bikers the chance to really get away from it all.  Yes, anyone can make use of a three-day weekend to get away from it all, a biker can, it seems, even more easily pick up and go.  Maybe it's the biker lifestyle, maybe it's the call of the road, but whatever it is, more bikers seem willing to head out on the open roads with very little planning.

Why is a three-day weekend more exciting than a regular one?  You can ride longer distances, for one thing.  For another, a number of biker rallies are held on these long weekends, so you can go to one of those events.  Some people even take off work on the day before or the day after the weekend so they can have four days off to take a nice trip.

In addition to attending rallies, some bikers like to take these long weekends to go visit relatives who live far away, but not so far that they can't travel there in a day.  They head out on Saturday morning, have all of Sunday to visit, and then head home on Monday afternoon.  Others take short vacations, visit sites they've always wanted to see, or do nothing but ride the entire time.
