Those who ride motorcycles and have a family may, at times, find themselves caught between the two. For example, it can be difficult to go on long rides if you have young children at home. Of course, it shouldn't be a question of which comes first, most bikers know that they have responsibilities to their family that they must put ahead of even the most majestic bike or beautiful, scenic ride. There are, though, some ways that you can combine you love of motorcycles and your responsibilities to your family.
When your family consists of just you and your spouse, you might be able to get him or her to at least ride every now and then with you. If you were lucky enough to marry a fellow biker, well, then you might plan trips together on your bikes. It can be a lot of fun!
When you have a new child, you may find yourself with less and less time to ride. But that's okay. There are still other ways you can share your biking passion. For example, you could put a few embroidered patches on your baby's clothing.
Once your children get older, you can start taking them for slow, short rides and teaching them about biking. They can pick out different patches for their own clothes, or the two of you could have matching biker jackets. When they turn 16, they might even want to get a motorcycle of their own! Then you can truly take family rides together.
Even though it may mean taking a car instead of riding your bike, having a family is one of the most rewarding experiences. Enjoy it, especially if the day comes when you, your spouse, and your children can all ride down the highway together!
