Carrying a Lot on a Long Ride

If you are a biker who likes to go on long rides, then you will need to know how to fit as much as possible in your bike's limited luggage space.  The amount of luggage you need ultimately depends on the kind of trips you take.  If you just like to pick up and ride off for a short weekend excursion, then you should be able to make due with a traditional bike roll and saddlebags.  However, if you like to travel cross country on your bike for weeks (or even months) at a time, then you will probably need a more space so that you can pack all of your travel necessities.

There are several different options that you can choose from, and these range from double-decker T bags that can ride on the back of the bike to specialized side car luggage holders.  If you are just traveling alone, then the space on the back of your bike should be more than enough to hold all of your clothes and other items.  You can get these in leather duffle bags that can be customized with patches, or you can buy a sleek composite luggage bag that will make sure your belongings do not get damaged by rain.

However, if you plan on going on a longer adventure with a passenger, then you might need to consider other options.  You can buy a luggage rack that will attach to the back of the bike behind the passenger seat, or you can opt to go with a luggage sidecar or trailer.  The most important thing to remember is that if this is going to be a long trip, you will want to make sure that you go with the most comfortable option.
