Sometimes when motorcycle riders cover long distances, they might find new aches and pains. If you are a frequent rider, then you might find that your wrist and hand start cramping and hurting from repetitive use of your clutch. If you find yourself suffering from some of these problems, there are a few different things that you might be able to do to help alleviate the pain. One of the most basic things to do is to work on changing up your current riding technique.
Before you get on the bike, try clenching and unclenching your fists several times to loosen and stretch the muscles in your hand. These muscles are just like any other, and you want to make sure that you do not jump into physical activity without first loosening them up. Likewise, it's also a good idea to rub and massage your hands and fingers after you are finished riding to work out any tightness or kinks you may experience. Take the time to massage both of your hands starting at the wrists and working your way out to your fingertips.
Also remember to relax your grip. You don't have to grip the handlebars that tightly. Too many times riders grip the handles a lot tighter than is necessary, and this can lead to pain and cramping later. Lastly, do not lean into your handlebars. When you do this, the balance of your body weight is put on your wrists, and this can cause them to be sore as well. You want to make sure that your sitting posture is as comfortable as possible without putting any unnecessary pressure on your wrists or your lower back.
