Every now and again I run into patch collectors looking for creative ways to display their collections. Some have just a small collection of custom patches from motorcycle rallies or military events; some have huge collections made up of stock patches, event patches, military patches, and so on. Yet regardless of the size of their collections, one of the things collectors have in common is the desire to display their most prized pieces so guests to their homes can see them. To that end I have a suggestion: magnets.
My wife got the idea while staring at our refrigerator one day and noticing all things stuck to it using magnets. Then she remembered my mother who for years had a magnet collection on her refrigerator. So my wife suggested purchasing small magnets at the craft store, gluing them to the backside of the embroidered patches and then sticking them on the refrigerator. If you have other metal surfaces prone to public view they would be great choices as well.
For example, if you set up a home bar in your basement you can purchase panels of sheet metal from your home improvement store and cut them into smaller pieces to be framed. Then hang those on the wall of your bar or lounge area and affix the magnetized patches to them. As my wife pointed out, the best thing about this method is that you can easily switch out the patches when you're ready for a new look. It's an easy way to display, decorate, and easily change things up when you want.
Part of collecting custom and stock patches is displaying them for your friends and family. So be creative. Finding unique ways to display your collection is one of the things that make collecting patches so enjoyable!
