Displaying your Patch Collection

Do you have a ton of embroidered patches that you don't know what to do with?  Some people buy extra patches and put them away, only getting them out when they want to add new patches to an item or have to start a new biker jacket.  Why would people buy extra patches?  Some like to have their favorites on hand for when they have to buy a new jacket so they can decorate it right away.  Others find patches to be really fun to collect, and so they have boxes full of them.  If you've got a lot of extra patches lying around, why not display them for others to see?

It might sound kind of crazy, but motorcycle patches can actually make for nice artwork.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  First, it's unique.  Not that many people have a large number of patches, and most won't think to display them.  Second, you can mix and match them to create movable art.  Just because they're called iron on patches doesn't mean you have to iron them on.  In fact, if you put them on felt and then frame them, most of the time, the patches will stay where they are.  This means if you decide you don't like how they look, you just open the frames, move them around, and re-hang them.  Suddenly, you have new artwork!

You can frame and hang you patches just about anywhere.  Some will look better than others, of course.  If you're a veteran, for example, there are some very colorful vet patches that would look really nice framed.  Some of the saying patches, on the other hand, may not make that great a piece of art.  But maybe they would be a perfect fit in your home?  It's really up to you.
