What are you going to be for Halloween? For bikers, that can sometimes be a difficult question if they plan to ride their motorcycle to their Halloween party. The problem is that not all costumes are really bike friendly. Can you imagine someone riding off on their motorcycle as a superhero, only for their cape to get stuck in their back wheel? It sounds pretty ridiculous, but it might happen. With that in mind, here are a few things bikers should consider before riding off on their motorcycle in costume.
Bikers usually wear fairly tight clothing. That's because anything loose is going to stream out behind them when they're riding. Superheroes with capes are just one example. Anything like feathers, streamers, or loose sleeves is likely to get caught in the wind, and it can then get caught in your bike or fly up and make it difficult to see. If your costume involves anything like this, you may want to put that part on later or try to tie it up before you get on your bike.
Remember that you're not protected from the elements when riding your bike. You may want to hold off on putting on anything that's white or any other light color. If you don't, it may get really dirty by the time you reach your destination.
Headgear is another issue. If you wear a helmet, obviously you'll want to hold off on putting on your hat or other headpiece until you reach your destination. However, if you want to wear a wig with your costume, you may want to wear it under your helmet. Just be sure to check and see how it looks before you go in so you can make sure it hasn't shifted while you were driving.
