War is hard, and no matter how hard we try to prevent them, going to war means that there are always going to be casualties. However, not all of the casualties are easily identified. This is because there are some soldiers who go missing during battles, and it is not known if they are Missing in Action or if they are Prisoners of War. It is important to make sure that these soldier's families know their sacrifice is not forgotten, and one way to do that is by putting an MIA POW patch on your clothing, gear, or other accessories.
If you are familiar with the MIA POW movement, you know that they have a very specific flag that is intended to represent these soldiers. It's a black flag with an outline of a soldier being held prisoner, head slightly bent. In the background a white guard tower and fence showcase his imprisonment clearly. On the bottom of the flag are the words 'You Are Not Forgotten'. This flag should have a placement of some kind on any MIA POW patch you are considering. Sometimes it's in the foreground and sometimes the background. Often the patch could have other patriotic elements in it as well. There is a wide variety for you to choose from.
When you find the MIA POW patch that works best for you, it's very easy to attach it to your clothing or gear. The back is coated with a heat activated adhesive that will bond to fabric when ironed. However, if you are attaching it to leather you should sew the patch on by stitching around the edges instead because the heat from the iron could permanently damage the leather.
