How Many Patches is Too Many?

Once you add a few iron on patches to your jacket, you may keep finding more and more that you really like and want to include.  After a while, you might not be able to tell what your jacket actually looks like under all those patches!  In fact, you might end up with so many embroidered patches that you just don't have room for them all, so you start adding them to other jackets, pants, and other items.  How many patches is too many for a biker to own?  Well, maybe when your spouse or significant other starts complaining about how many you have or how much money you spend on them?.

Other than the financial aspect, though, there really is no such thing as having too many patches because some people collect them.  Some of these patches are really like little works of art, and they can be used to decorate around the house in addition to customizing your riding gear.  For example, large patches can be attached to pillows or even blankets for decoration, or you can frame them to create some fairly unique pieces of art.  If you discover that you've got duplicate patches, you can use them on other pieces of riding gear or save them for your biker friends? birthdays.  You might even give them to your kids if they're interested in riding and if the patch is appropriate (some are definitely not something you would want your kids wearing).

You can truly cover almost every inch of your jacket in patches, but you might not want to.  Too many patches can make it seem very cluttered, and it can be hard for people to really tell what each patch says or is if there's no space around it.  Plan out your patches before you attach them so that the jacket doesn't seem overly full and it will look very nice.
