How to Decide Which Type of Motorcycle Fits You

Are you thinking about getting a motorcycle?  Have you seen motorcycle ads and thought it would be cool to ride? Maybe gas prices are too high, or maybe you want something with a little more maneuverability than a car?  Well, if you are considering getting a motorcycle, then it is important that you decide what type of bike is best suited to the kind of riding that you want to do.  One of the first things that you want to do is to check and see what your local and state requirements are for operating a motorcycle.

It varies from state to state as to what kind of testing is required for motorcycle drivers.  In some states it's nothing more than a written test to make sure that you understand the laws, while others do require you to pass a driving course test.  Once you've done this, you need to ask yourself what kind of riding you anticipate.  If you are looking into motorcycles because you are interested in racing, then you will most likely want a racing bike.  However, be careful riding them in the city because at slower speeds you have to do much of your balancing on your forearms.

For those who want to avoid the high gas costs of an automobile for their daily commute, a smaller 250cc. motorcycle is fine and should fit all of their commuting needs.  If you are someone who wants to ride long distances or go on weekend trips, then you will most likely want a larger cruising motorcycle.  There are a number of different options, so do not buy the first bike you see as you may find one better suited to your needs in a different category.
