Leisure Motorcycling is More Common Now than Ever

In years past, if you road a motorcycle, you were considered to be a stereotypical biker.  You probably had long hair, a beard, and wore a lot of leather.  Today, however, this is not the case.  In fact, many people who choose to ride motorcycles do so because they find it relaxing and enjoyable, and they come from all walks of life.  Few of them fit the biker image any longer.  This kind of leisure riding is far more common now and is quickly replacing the old stereotype of 'bad boy bikers' that was so prevalent in the 1960s and 70s.

Today there are many groups who enjoy taking their bikes out on the weekends and driving around scenic areas as a way to experience nature.  Being on a bike has an unmistakable feeling of being more connected to the road and the scenery than one could ever feel sitting behind the glass and metal-encompassed wheel of a car.  On a bike, you can actually feel the ground beneath your tread and experience the wind flowing over your body.  It has a very liberating factor that many find appealing.  Add to this the growing number of different motorcycle bodies and styles, and you can easily see why so many are turning to motorcycles as a leisure pastime activity.

Many people also like tinkering with bikes and working on engines.  Sure, they might work on cars, but motorcycles are new territory for some.  Others like to turn their bikes into showpieces, making them look as cool as possible.  Whether you're a hardcore biker who still loves wearing leather riding gear and hitting the road every weekend or you ride in your three-piece suit to work, motorcycle riding is definitely not a dying hobby.
