Sometimes, you have to ride when the light isn't the best. This can be at night, at dusk or dawn, or during cloudy and rainy weather. At times like these, it's important that other vehicles on the road can see you and your motorcycle. There are a number of different things you can do to help make yourself more visible during these times so that you'll be safe.
Before you start any long ride or a ride in adverse weather conditions, always check your motorcycle's lights to make sure they're working. You don't want a light to go out on the road, especially if you're in between stops and won't be able to replace it for miles.
When you're off your motorcycle, you need to be sure you can be seen, too. Some bikers wear those bright orange or yellow vests, but those are pretty ugly. They definitely clash with your leather jacket and other gear. Fortunately, there are some reflective patches you can iron or sew on to your jacket that catch the light and reflect it back, making you visible. These biker patches are large and feature great artwork.
These patches are great for both riding and when you're off your bike. Sometimes, you have to stop alongside the road, and in that case, your reflective patches and flashlight may be the only light you have. If a driver comes along and isn't paying attention, he or she may not realize you're there unless you have some kind of reflective patch on your jacket.
Don't go out at night without the proper gear. It's vital that you can be seen when you're on the road during the dark. Otherwise, you may have an accident because other motorists don't see you.
