Making Sure You Are Always Prepared for Rain

There are many times when you might start to head out on your motorcycle and you find yourself caught in an unexpected rain storm.  If you've gone out with proper preparations and gear, then this won't be a problem. If you didn't, you might find yourself trapped on the side of the road waiting for the rain to pass for several minutes or even hours.

When it first starts raining, it's always a good idea to pull over for twenty or thirty minutes while you put on your rain gear.  This is because the roads are the most slick right after the rain starts because the first bit of moisture will bring all of the oils and dirt to the surface of the pavement.  If you give it a little while to flush all of this out, then you will find the road to be much safer.

Now, when it comes to gear, you will want to make sure that you have a good rain suit on hand.  Remember that a lot of times you get what you pay for, so you'll want to look at a number of options before you decide on the suit that is best for you.  If it doesn't look cool, don't worry, you can cover them in motorcycle patches later.  You want to make sure you get gear long enough to go down past your waist line and that cinches fairly tightly at the bottom and at your wrists.  Then, wear a good pair of waterproof gloves that slide down over the top and cinch closed as well.  This way, the rain will slide off instead of getting inside and soaking your clothing.  Be sure to have a helmet with a face shield on hand as well.
