Making Your Own Patches

Have you been looking for that perfect patch but just can't find it?  There is a solution: make your own!  It's actually much easier than you might think.  The Cheap Place sells several different blank patches that you can embroider yourself.  You'll find a blank rectangular patch, circular patch, and rocker patch just waiting for your designs.  All it takes is some creativity and a little needlework.  You don't even need to know that many embroidery stitches: some of the basic ones like the chain stitch or the running stitch are all you really need to know.

All you need to do is order a few of these blank patches and go to work!  Of course, nothing is ever quite as easy as it sounds, so you do need to do a little planning first.  You should come up with your design before you start stitching so you don't run out of room and so the design is centered on the patch.  You might actually want to buy wholesale patches so you've got plenty to practice on.  You could also practice your embroidery on some old fabric until you get the stitches down.

Once you do start embroidering your own patches, don't be afraid to be creative and come up with some really neat designs.  You never know, you might find that your biker friends want you to make them patches, too.  One thing to note about these blank patches is that you have to sew them on.  They do not have the iron-on plastic backing on them because that would make it very difficult to embroider on them.
