Motorcycles Verses Automobiles

In many countries, motorcycles have become more popular than cars and other automobiles.  In fact, they outnumber the automobiles on the road two to one or more.  People choose them because they are capable of getting through congested streets and fit in smaller parking spaces than larger vehicles.  There are a number of other reasons why motorcycles may be the vehicle of choice for you, but there are some drawbacks, too, that you've got to consider.

Riding motorcycles can be a ton of fun, so that's a major plus.  Driving can sometimes get annoying, especially if you get stuck in traffic a lot.  Motorcycles can (even when it's illegal) zip between stuck cars, avoiding horrible jams.  It's a great way of avoiding being late.  However, it can also be dangerous.  While having a traffic accident in a car can be horrible, having a crash while on your motorcycle can be even more dangerous since you can go skidding across the pavement.  If you're not wearing proper protective gear, you can end up severely injured.

The other issue with a motorcycle than driving a car can overcome is storage space.  You can't exactly drive your friends around on your bike, even if you have a side car.  You also can't haul a large amount of stuff.  Again, even with a side car, it can be difficult to get a large amount of shopping back home.  It also leaves you exposed to the elements, so you need to carry cold weather gear and rain gear with you most of the time.

However, the sheer joy of riding is more than enough to deal with these little issues.  If you truly love it and don't have to worry about storage space, riding a bike is absolutely amazing.
