People hate to throw away their favorite clothing, especially when it's something like a biker jacket. These jackets have a history. Some of them have been around the country with you. Plus, once you've broken in it, nothing fits as well as a good jacket. Finding a the perfect replacement can be a pain, so why not give it a new look with some biker patches? Patches can do more than just decoration, they can be used to repair rips and tears and breathe new life into old clothes.
Almost anything can be repaired with a few patches, although if your jacket is about to fall apart, it might be beyond even the largest patch. However, a few rips can easily be covered. Even large rips can be fixed by using one of the large biker patches. Of course, the location of the rip does play a factor in fixing it. If it's on a seam or up under the arm, it might be difficult to find a patch that will fit and bend correctly. Patches do tend to be fairly stiff, so they may not work to fix tears on the knee or other locations where flexibility is necessary.
But you can use patches to repair more than just your jacket or your pants. They're also great for hiding small holes in the back of your riding gloves, although rips on the fingers aren't really repairable. These sew on patches could also be used to give an old wallet a bit of a face lift. Patches that are sewn on do cover holes, but they may not provide much stability. If you iron the patch on, it will permanently bond with the material and give it more strength. Of course, you can only iron patches on to items that are not made of leather.
