Special Types of Patches

There are many different types of patches out there.  Some are standard patches that you iron or sew on to your clothing.  These patches can have different sayings or images on them, and they are available from many different shops.  You can usually put them anywhere on your jacket, vest, canvas bag, or other item.  However, there are a few different types of patches that are made for either specific spots on your clothing or are designed for a specific reason.

One special type of patch is the reflective patch.  These patches have a special reflective surface that makes it easier to see anyone wearing it.  These patches may have images or words embroidered on them, just like standard patches, but the white parts bounce back light.  They look nice in the daylight, too.  Some of these are large back patches, while others are smaller and can be put on the front of your jacket or vest.

Rocker patches are a special type of patch designed to be worn on the upper shoulder of your jacket.  These patches are slightly curved so they follow the shape of your shoulder.  You can also wear them on the front of your vest or jacket like a name badge.  There are also large rockers that can be put on the back of your jacket or vest.  One is curved to fit across the top while the other curves along the bottom.  They can be used to frame patches in the center or by themselves.

A third type of special patch is made for hats.  They're almost a half-circle, but the bottom third on the left and the right are angled up instead of flat.  This makes it sit better on the front of your cap.
