Stock Patches for Inexpensive Uniforms

My wife and I belong to an educational organization that gets together once a year for our annual convention. For many years we were in charge of organizing all of the volunteers for the event, including the security team. When it came to the security team we wanted them to all look the same, in terms of their dress, so they could easily bite identified by people who needed help. Purchasing uniforms from a uniform company was cost prohibitive due to our limited budget. So what did we do?

I found some stock patches at The Cheap Place that were simple banners with the word "security" embroidered on them. They also had some security badge patches in stock that also work well. So we bought a couple of dozen of each, and had a custom patch made to designate our organization, and away we went.

We purchased plain white shirts in a variety of sizes and attached the patches to them in strategic locations - the banner on the sleeve, a badge on the right breast, and the custom patch on the left. Each member of the security team was issued a shirt at the start of the convention and then returned it at its conclusion.

Now when convention time comes around every year we simply ask security team members to wear black pants and shoes along with the white shirt we provide. We've managed to put together very nice-looking uniforms at a very reasonable price. The fact that the stock patches from The Cheap Place were so affordable made it all possible. And now, if a shirt wears out we simply remove the patches and sew them to a new one. It couldn't be any easier on us or our annual budget.
