Symphony of Color in the Smoky Mountains

Rarely will you ever see such beauty as the Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee.  October is the prime time for the fall leaves to show off their majesty. With over 700 miles of beauty there are over three hundred streams covering 521,000.00 acres. There are at least 65 different types of mammals that reside in the Smokies which includes the popular black bear.

Riding your bike is always thrilling in the mountains. There are several routes worth checking out.

Deals Gap which can be accessed by Highway 28 Bryson City or Highway 129 from Robbinsville. This ride is also known as "The Dragon", boasts of three hundred and eighteen turns in 11 miles! This route is not for the timid rider. You will enjoy the rivers edge, gorges and little mountain towns on the route.

Another favorite is the ride from Cherokee to Gatlinburg on highway 441, which is the only road through the Great Smoky Mountain Park. Once you cross into Newfound Gap be prepared as the temperature can drop down 20 degrees due to the elevation.

Gatlinburg is a great place to hang out and experience the candy makers and the talented crafters. You will not want to miss the sky ride up the mountain, you will never find a better view.

Be sure to take your saddle bags as you will find hand made treats you will not want to pass up. It is also a great place to pick up unique gifts.

It is a good idea to layer your clothing as the temperature changes so drastically. Good riding gloves and a face mask will be appreciated once you begin to brave the weather.
