One thing many bikers do is take a long ride on the weekends. Sometimes, they just go out for several hours at a time, but other times, they ride to another town and stay over, then ride back. These short weekend trips can be a lot of fun, especially if you've never taken one before. Biking offers a lot of freedom. True, you could take a weekend trip in a car, but it's not quite the same.
If you drove to another location and stayed the weekend in a car, the trip is more about the destination. You drive your car all the time, there's nothing really special or unique about that. Your weekend getaway would be all about the destination and what you do there. On the other hand, if you ride your bike somewhere, it's more about the actual trip. It's the riding that's important, not what you do when you get there. Even getting out of town for a weekend is a secondary experience.
A weekend ride also doesn't take as much planning as a trip by car because you don't need to look for things to do or even a place to stay ahead of time. You can ride into town and look for a hotel then if you want, it doesn't really matter where you stay. You might even stay at a friend's house or relative's place if one is available.
Taking a weekend ride with a friend or two can make the trip even more fun and cheaper since you can split the cost of lodging. No matter where you go, just remember to enjoy the ride since that's the whole point of these biker weekends!
