Taking the Family to a Biker Rally

Motorcycle riders all around the world love to gather at biker rallies throughout the year to share their love of biking and motorcycles in general.  In the past, most bikers went to rallies alone.  This is because hardcore bikers were either unmarried or were married to other bikers.  However, today, many people ride motorcycles: businessmen, doctors, lawyers, parents, anyone and everyone loves to ride.  With this change in who bikes, more and more people are taking their entire families to biker rallies, and more and more rallies are being aimed at the entire family, not just motorcycle riders.

Most biker rallies now include live musical events and activities that are appropriate for the whole family.  There are, of course, some that do not, but those rallies make it clear that children are not welcome on their websites and promotional material.  If you're taking your family to a rally, however, you probably won't be able to ride your motorcycle the entire way to the rally.  Instead, you'll need to take a larger vehicle, maybe even a motorhome or a camper.  Having your family along may also mean you'll need to make different lodging arrangements since it may be difficult to camp out.

Some hardcore bikers believe that if you don't ride your motorcycle all the way to the rally, you're not a proper biker.  These elitist bikers look down on casual motorcycle riders, but there's no hard and firm rule that defines a 'true' biker.  If you want to take your entire family out to a rally, perhaps even as a family vacation, there's nothing wrong with that.  You don't even have to ride your bike to the rally at all, although you won't get many other chances to show it off to other bikers.
