The Advantages of Biking to Work

Driving to work in your car can be stressful in major traffic.  If you're already running late and then hit a stand-still, you might lose it.  Then there's trying to find a parking space.  While biking to work doesn't make you immune to dealing with traffic, it does have a few advantages.  If you're tired of the commute and want to spice up your morning drive, put the car back in the garage and take your bike out for a spin.

A motorcycle takes up a lot less space on the road.  While it's not always legal, you can weave in between stopped cars and get through traffic jams.  You should always be careful when doing so, of course, and always watch other motorists when on your bike.  Also, even though it might be tempting, you should avoid riding on the shoulder of the road.  This area is designed for vehicles that are broken down or having troubles, not as a bonus lane for bikers.

Parking is often another nice bonus for bikers.  Sometimes, bikers are allowed to park in areas that cars and other vehicles are not allowed to use.  Other times, bikers who work at the same place can share a parking space because two bikes can fit in the same space as one car.  Remember to check local laws regarding motorcycle parking before you park is a spot that isn't a legal space for motorcycles.

Finally, the biggest example of biking to work is because it's fun!  You don't have to wait until the weekend or your day off before you ride.  You can ride your motorcycle every day and love every minute of it.
