The Appeal of Motorcycle Riding

Some people just don't get it.  They don't understand why someone would want to ride a motorcycle.  It seems like you would be at the mercy of the elements every time you went out to ride.  Plus, don't you get splattered by bugs and bird droppings?  And what about the danger?  If you crash, don't you get very badly injured?  These people probably have never ridden a motorcycle before, so they don't know how amazing it can be to be out on the open road with your bike purring beneath you.  There's something very addictive and intoxicating about riding a motorcycle, but those who haven't tried it have no idea what they're missing.

Part of the appeal of motorcycles is the freedom they give you.  On the surface, you have the same freedom as with any vehicle: you can get up and go whenever you like.  However, motorcycles seem to give you even more freedom.  Maybe it has something to do with the rebel stereotype often associated with riding a bike.  Maybe it has to do with the fact that you're not enclosed like you are in a car.  Whatever it is, bikers feel much freer when they're riding.

Another reason why some people love motorcycles so much is the image.  Bikers have always been seen as the bad boys (and girls).  In popular culture, riding a motorcycle means you're a tough, macho man who breaks the rules and isn't afraid of anything.  Who wouldn't want people to think that they're fearless bad asses?  Riding a motorcycle can give you an image makeover.  Plus, you simply feel more confident riding a motorcycle.

It doesn't really matter what kind of bike you ride, the freedom and confidence boost you get from riding makes any motorcycle appealing.
