Turning Your Hobby into a Career as a Motorcycle Mechanic

Do you enjoy tinkering with your bike all the time?  If you do, you might look at turning this hobby into a full time career.  With the increase in the number of motorcycle riders in recent years, there is more and more of a demand for people who can work with bikes.  You may have noticed the increasing number of motorcycle gear and patches being sold in stores.  This increase directly coincides with the increase in demand for motorcycles, which also coincides with an increase in jobs related to biking.

A lot of time people do not take care of their bikes the way that they should, and many more don't know how to properly store their motorcycle.  Because of this, there are a lot of bikes out there which need to be worked on by a professional.  You could make your living repairing these motorcycles.

If you are good with bikes and know your way around a number of different makes and models, you might be able to get a job with a repair shop that is willing to do on the job training.  However, it is never a bad idea to go to a trade school to find out as much as you possibly can about motorcycle repair.  This way you will get certified while getting some important hands on training, which is always a bonus when applying to shops.

Then, once you have been hired on at a shop, remember to stay up to date on trends by taking different training courses and seminars that are offered by different manufacturers.  This will not only teach you more about repairing motorcycles, but it will also work as a sort of continuing education to keep you up to date on information and changes out there that are being made by the manufacturer.
