Using Patches to Create Unity in a Club

One of the ways a group forges unity and brotherhood among its members is by creating a club uniform or logo that all members wear when they're together or at an event.  For motorcycle clubs, the best way of doing this is to create a custom club patch for all members to wear.  This patch may include the club name, the town or city it's based out of, and the club motto or official logo.

Creating your own club patch can be a little costly, but it can be done.  You can find companies that will create patches for you, but often, unless you're doing a large order, it will be more expensive than you might like.  If you don't want to make your members or the club pay a lot for custom patches, you've got two choices: you can purchase blank patches and have member embroider on them, or you can select a pre-made patch and make it your club logo.  There are pros and cons to both.

If you have members (or a few volunteers) create their own patches, each one will come out looking a little bit different.  Even if a few members embroider everyone else's patch, they won't all look exactly alike.  However, they will immediately identify your club.  If you pick a patch sold by a company (say, for example, a Native American tribal patch) for all of your members to wear, it will look the same on everyone's jacket, but people outside your club may have the same patch.

If you truly want to look professional, you do almost have to have custom patches made.  However, you don't have to do this.  You can always ask members to wear similar patches on their gear or go with one certain theme.  Your members will still look similar.
