Why Use Lowered Motorcycle Handlebars

Did you know that many bikers choose to lower their handlebars?  The reason for this is often multi-faceted.  For some it has to do with the look of their machine; for others, it could be that lower handlebars are more comfortable for long trips; and finally, for others it has to do with safety because they are better able to withstand fatigue and operate the bike better with the customized grips.  Whatever the reason, the versatility and customization options of motorcycles is one of the many reasons these machines are so popular.

However, it might be interesting to note that often even the stock handlebars that come with the bike need to be adjusted to help keep your ride as smooth as possible.  The reason for this is that motorcycles are just like any other machine: they are built and designed for the average user.  This is a great way to market a product, but unless you fall within the twenty five percent of people who actually fit into the average body size category, you are going to need to make some basic adjustments.  One of the easiest adjustment is moving your handlebars, rotating them either forward or backward so that you can sit and ride more comfortably.

If you do decide to go ahead and replace or lower your handlebars, then be sure that you have all of the available schematics and information on doing this before you start.  Otherwise, you are likely to find yourself in the middle of the job when you discover that you actually needed a specialized tool to move the handlebars.
